July has already been busy for Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, and the next few weeks look just as active. The current watchlist is a mix of airport scenery close to release, big-name aircraft projects, classic jets, regional turboprops, utility aircraft and new Marketplace releases that are already available to try.
As of 15 July 2026, the most interesting add-ons to watch are not all at the same stage. Some are already out, some have release trailers, some are listed for Q3 or Summer 2026, and others are still longer-term development projects. That distinction matters. A useful add-on preview should make clear what is confirmed, what is close, and what is still worth tracking rather than pretending everything is arriving tomorrow.
iniBuilds Chicago O'Hare KORD
The closest airport scenery story right now is iniBuilds Chicago O'Hare (KORD) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Flightsim.to's Release Radar links to a recent iniBuilds trailer and describes the scenery as coming soon this week.
KORD is worth watching because it is one of the busiest and most recognisable hub airports in the United States. In the sim, a detailed O'Hare gives pilots a proper airliner base: multiple runways, heavy traffic patterns, complex taxiing, varied approaches and realistic domestic and international route options.
If the scenery performs well, KORD should be useful for more than screenshots. It gives airliner pilots a serious place to practise approaches, taxi discipline, runway changes and repeated landings in different weather.
Synaptic Simulations and iniBuilds A220
The Synaptic Simulations A220, developed in partnership with iniBuilds, remains one of the highest-profile aircraft projects on the current MSFS radar. Flightsim.to lists the A220 for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 with a Summer 2026 window, and Microsoft Flight Simulator's July 9 weekly briefing highlighted an iniBuilds/Synaptic A220 deep-dive livestream.
The A220 is interesting because it fits a useful gap in the sim. It is smaller than the usual A320/737 workhorses, but more modern and capable than many regional jets. That makes it ideal for shorter airline routes, city-pair flying, regional hubs and repeated medium-length flights.
The key things to watch are avionics depth, autopilot behaviour, flight model quality, performance data and MSFS 2024 compatibility. If those pieces land well, the A220 could become one of the most-used short-haul airliners in the sim.
Majestic Software Dash 8 Q400
The Majestic Software Dash 8 Q400 is another major aircraft to track. Flightsim.to's Release Radar lists it in development for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, with the latest development update describing exterior model work, flight-deck systems work, balancing of visual quality and system performance, and corrections based on real aircraft specifications.
That level of detail matters because the Dash 8 Q400 is not a simple aircraft to get right. A convincing Q400 needs strong turboprop behaviour, credible approach handling, systems depth and good performance. It also has a very different rhythm from jet airliners: regional sectors, prop management, faster approaches than many pilots expect and plenty of short-runway work.
A good Q400 would add genuine variety to MSFS rather than just another cockpit to learn.
A2A Accu-Sim Legacy RG550
A2A's Accu-Sim Legacy RG550 is listed on Release Radar for Q3 2026. It is described as a study-level simulation of the Lancair Legacy RG550 using A2A's Accu-Sim 2.0 technology.
A2A releases are worth watching because the attraction is usually aircraft behaviour, not just modelling. Accu-Sim aircraft tend to put more focus on engine character, wear, handling feel and the small details that make flying technique matter.
The Legacy RG550 should appeal to pilots who want high-performance general aviation rather than another airliner. It has the potential to be a fast, precise aircraft where speed control, approach planning and landing discipline matter.
Carenado Dornier Do 228
Carenado's Dornier Do 228 is listed as announced for MSFS 2024 on Release Radar, with cabin and cockpit previews already shown.
The Do 228 is one of the more interesting utility aircraft on the list. It suits regional hops, rough-weather flying, island routes, cargo-style operations and shorter-field work. That gives it more personality than a generic touring aircraft.
The main question is how much depth Carenado gives it. If the handling, cockpit and utility feel are strong enough, the Do 228 could become a useful aircraft for pilots who enjoy practical route flying rather than just point-to-point cruising.
Got Friends Taylorcraft BC-12D
The Got Friends Taylorcraft BC-12D is listed as a Q3 2026 release-candidate project for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.
This is a smaller aircraft than most of the headline releases, but it has a clear appeal. Taildraggers give sim pilots a different kind of challenge: rudder control, ground handling, grass strips, three-point landings, wheel landings and crosswind discipline.
If it arrives with the usual Got Friends attention to character, the Taylorcraft could be a strong choice for low-and-slow flying, farm strips, classic GA routes and old-school landing practice.
Just Flight A300B4 Professional
Just Flight's A300B4 Professional is listed as in development for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. It is a longer-watch item rather than a confirmed imminent release, but it deserves attention because classic wide-body aircraft are still relatively rare in the modern sim ecosystem.
A good A300B4 would offer a different workload from modern fly-by-wire Airbus aircraft. Older systems, heavier energy management and more hands-on flying would make it appealing to pilots who enjoy classic airliner operations.
The release window is still TBA, so this is one to track rather than expect immediately.
FlightSim Studio 727 Series v2 and Tu-154M
FlightSim Studio has two classic jet projects on Release Radar: Boeing 727 Series v2 and Tupolev Tu-154M.
The 727 Series v2 listing points to upgrades such as walkaround support and external fueling. The Tu-154M listing is still at an announced stage, but the aircraft itself has obvious appeal for pilots who want something loud, older and more demanding than a modern glass-cockpit airliner.
Neither should be treated as a near-release certainty yet. They are worth tracking because classic tri-jets bring a different workload, approach style and cockpit flow to MSFS.
New Marketplace releases already available
The official Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace updates also list several items that are already out or newly available on more platforms.
From the week of July 6, notable MSFS 2024 items include:
- Bristol T188 by TG Sims
- Lancair Legacy 2024 by Flysimware
- RAF S.E.5a by Captain Sim
- Black Square Duke Aircraft Bundle
- KATL Atlanta International Airport by Orbx
- KMHK Manhattan Regional Airport by MSFScenerybuilders
- Advanced Challenges - Carrier Landings by Perfect Flight
From the week of June 29, useful releases included Taog's Hangar AS365 Dauphin, PMDG Douglas DC-6, and SimWorks Studios GA-8 Airvan SystemsPulse for MSFS 2024.
The most practical picks from those lists depend on how you fly. KATL is the obvious airport choice for large-hub airliner flying. Advanced Challenges - Carrier Landings is directly aimed at landing practice. Black Square's Duke bundle and the Lancair Legacy 2024 suit pilots who prefer fast general aviation and more precise handling.
What is worth watching first
For the next month or two, the strongest add-on stories are likely to be iniBuilds KORD, the Synaptic/iniBuilds A220, the Majestic Q400, A2A's Legacy RG550, and Carenado's Dornier Do 228.
KORD looks closest and has broad airport appeal. The A220 has the biggest airliner hype. The Q400 could add a serious turboprop back into the sim. The Legacy RG550 brings A2A's systems-focused general aviation style. The Do 228 could be useful for regional and utility flying if the final product has enough character.
The best MSFS add-ons are the ones that create new flights people actually want to fly. On that measure, July and August have a stronger pipeline than a simple Marketplace list suggests.
